Emily's Greenhouse opened in the spring of 2001, two miles south and half a mile west of Stuart, Nebraska. The 30 x 60 foot greenhouse is home to over 30 different kinds of annuals
and vegetables that are grown from seed. Emily Vogel Wallinger also sells roses, perennials, planters, hanging baskets and fertilizer. As of now, the business is seasonal but will expand with time.
Emily Vogel Wallinger attended Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) where she majored in horticulture with an emphasis in the area of production. Emily was active in the
horticulture club and served as the vice-president while on campus. She graduated in the spring of 1999.
Following graduation, Emily completed an internship at the Sprout House in Pleasanton, Nebraska, where they grew hydroponic tomatoes and cucumbers. "I really enjoyed doing this, so I decided to move home and start my own business," she said. "After a lot of research I decided not to grow tomatoes, but instead to grow annuals, perennials and vegetables."
"My favorite part of the business is watching the seeds sprout and grow," she said. "I also enjoys working with customers who enjoy flowers as much as I do". Emily Vogel
Wallinger has been a life-long resident of Stuart.
